This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

नातो विचारदृष्टयोऽवहेलया द्रष्टव्याः ।
विचारवशतः पुरुषेण सकलमिदमाधिपञ्जरं सर्पेण त्वचमिव परिपक्वां परित्यज्य विगतज्वरेण शीतलान्तःकरणेन विनोद इव जगदखिलमालोक्यते सम्यग्दर्शनवता ॥ १३ ॥

nāto vicāradṛṣṭayo'vahelayā draṣṭavyāḥ |
vicāravaśataḥ puruṣeṇa sakalamidamādhipañjaraṃ sarpeṇa tvacamiva paripakvāṃ parityajya vigatajvareṇa śītalāntaḥkaraṇena vinoda iva jagadakhilamālokyate samyagdarśanavatā || 13 ||
