The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

येनाब्देन शरद्विधावपि शिखी संतर्पितो वारिभिर्नो वर्षास्वपि पूरयेद्यदि सरस्तद्वाललोकोचितम् ।
आरब्धं समवेक्ष्य सज्जनजनो हासेन दुःस्थो भवेद्बर्हीत्यात्मतृषैव नेतुमखिलं कालं समभ्युद्यतः ॥ २५ ॥

yenābdena śaradvidhāvapi śikhī saṃtarpito vāribhirno varṣāsvapi pūrayedyadi sarastadvālalokocitam |
ārabdhaṃ samavekṣya sajjanajano hāsena duḥstho bhavedbarhītyātmatṛṣaiva netumakhilaṃ kālaṃ samabhyudyataḥ || 25 ||

The peacock seeing the cloud that was so profuse of rain even in autumn, becoming sometimes so scant of its supply as not even to fill a tank (such as in times of drought), sustains its thirst with patience, in gratitude to the past favours of the cloud; nor does it fain to blame its former supporter for failing, nor deigns to drink any other earthly water like the common people.
