The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.91.38

चिद्भागोऽत्रावबोधांशो जडं चेत्यं हि दृश्यते ।
इति जीवो जगद्भान्तिं पश्यन्गच्छति लोलताम् ॥ ३८ ॥

cidbhāgo'trāvabodhāṃśo jaḍaṃ cetyaṃ hi dṛśyate |
iti jīvo jagadbhāntiṃ paśyangacchati lolatām || 38 ||

The intellectual part consists of the operation of intellection, but the thoughts or thinkables (chetyas), which are the acts of the chit or intellect are known to be inert; and these are viewed by the living soul in the erroneous light of the world.
