Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अपारणीयं तमसः परस्तात्तदन्तकोऽप्येति विनाशकाले ।
अणीयरूपं क्षुरधारया तन्महच्च रूपं त्वपि पर्वतेभ्यः ॥ २२ ॥

apāraṇīyaṃ tamasaḥ parastāttadantako'pyeti vināśakāle |
aṇīyarūpaṃ kṣuradhārayā tanmahacca rūpaṃ tvapi parvatebhyaḥ || 22 ||
