The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.33.60

अनया दुरहंकृत्या दामव्यालकटाः किल ।
तां दशां समनुप्राप्ता या कथास्वपि खेददा ॥ ६० ॥

anayā durahaṃkṛtyā dāmavyālakaṭāḥ kila |
tāṃ daśāṃ samanuprāptā yā kathāsvapi khedadā || 60 ||

It was owing to their baser egoism, that the demons Dama, Vyala and others, were reduced to that deplorable state, as it is related in their tale.
