Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. किं नाम पतनं काक यत्त्वं पतसि सांप्रतम् ।
जलं स्पृशसि पक्षाभ्यां तुण्डेन च पुनः पुनः ॥ ४६ ॥

kiṃ nāma patanaṃ kāka yattvaṃ patasi sāṃpratam |
jalaṃ spṛśasi pakṣābhyāṃ tuṇḍena ca punaḥ punaḥ || 46 ||
