Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. नरांश्च कार्ष्णायसवर्मभूषणान्निपात्य साश्वानपि पत्तिभिः सह ।
व्यपोथयद्दन्तिवरेण शुष्मिणा सशब्दवत्स्थूलनडान्यथा तथा ॥ ८ ॥
