The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 11.36

कामास्तु भोगा इति यन्मतं स्याद्भोग्या न केचित्परिगण्यमानाः ।
वस्त्रादयो द्रव्यगुणा हि लोके दुःखप्रतीकार इति प्रधार्याः ॥ ३६ ॥

kāmāstu bhogā iti yanmataṃ syādbhogyā na kecitparigaṇyamānāḥ |
vastrādayo dravyaguṇā hi loke duḥkhapratīkāra iti pradhāryāḥ || 36 ||

'As for the common opinion, "pleasures are enjoyments," none of them when examined are worthy of being enjoyed; fine garments and the rest are only the accessories of things,—they are to be regarded as merely the remedies for pain.
