1) freier Platz , das Freie ; Raum überh. , Platz , Stelle ; freies Gebiet , freie Bewegung. lokaṃ uruṃ lokaṃ mit kar oder anu-nī Raum — , Luft — , Freiheit schaffen , — gewähren. loke mit Gen. statt. —
2) Zwischenraum. —
3) Strecke , Gebiet , Land. —
4) der grosse Raum , die Welt , Weltraum , jede imaginäre Welt ; inbes. Himmel , Stelle im Himmel. ayaṃ lokaḥ diese Welt. iha loke hier auf Erden. asau oder paro loka jene Welt. Unter zwei Welten versteht man Himmel und Erde , unter drei Welten — diese und den Luftraum oder die Unterwelt. Es werden Welten von verschiedener Art und Zahl angenommen ; insbes. sieben. —
