The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अज्ञानस्य महाग्रन्थेर्मिथ्यावेद्यात्मनोऽसतः ।
अहमित्यर्थरूपस्य भेदो मोक्ष इति स्मृतः ॥ १७ ॥

ajñānasya mahāgranthermithyāvedyātmano'sataḥ |
ahamityartharūpasya bhedo mokṣa iti smṛtaḥ || 17 ||

We remain confined to this world of ignorance, as long as we enjoy the idea of ego; but as soon as we give up the idea of ego, we become a free man.
