223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.92.23

जन्मान्तरशताभ्यस्ता राम संसारसंस्थितिः ।
सा चिराभ्यासयोगेन विना न क्षीयते क्वचित् ॥ २३ ॥

janmāntaraśatābhyastā rāma saṃsārasaṃsthitiḥ |
sā cirābhyāsayogena vinā na kṣīyate kvacit || 23 ||

The reminiscence of worldliness, which is inherited and strengthened in the long course of a hundred lives (or transmigrations of the soul), is hard to be removed with the assiduous practice of these triple virtues.
