The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

इदं जगदुदेत्यादावकारणमकारणात् ।
यदकारणमुद्भूतं तत्सदित्युच्यते कथम् ॥ ३५ ॥

idaṃ jagadudetyādāvakāraṇamakāraṇāt |
yadakāraṇamudbhūtaṃ tatsadityucyate katham || 35 ||

This world rises at first without a cause and to no cause, how then call it a reality which is sprung from and to no cause at all.
