The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.24.7

राजन्यदृष्टे दुर्मन्त्री स दुःखाय फलत्यति ।
मन्त्रिण्यनिर्जिते राजा सोऽत्यन्तं यात्यदृश्यताम् ॥ ७ ॥

rājanyadṛṣṭe durmantrī sa duḥkhāya phalatyati |
mantriṇyanirjite rājā so'tyantaṃ yātyadṛśyatām || 7 ||

The king being kept out of sight, the minister is seen to exercise his might; but the minister being kept out of view, the king alone appears in full view.
