223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.4.76

इदमादावनुत्पन्नं सर्गादौ तेन नास्त्यलम् ।
इदं हि मनसो भाति स्वप्नादौ पत्तनं यथा ॥ ७६ ॥

idamādāvanutpannaṃ sargādau tena nāstyalam |
idaṃ hi manaso bhāti svapnādau pattanaṃ yathā || 76 ||

All this was unproduced before, and did not exist in the beginning of creation. It comes to appearance from the mind like that of a city in a dream.
