223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.18.12

मनः प्रसादमायाति शरदीव महत्सरः ।
परं साम्यमुपादत्ते निर्मन्दर इवार्णवः ॥ १२ ॥

manaḥ prasādamāyāti śaradīva mahatsaraḥ |
paraṃ sāmyamupādatte nirmandara ivārṇavaḥ || 12 ||

The intellect becomes (by culture) as clear as a great lake in autumn, and it gets its calmness (by reason), like that of the sea after its churning by the Mandara mountain.
