The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.14.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
शास्त्रावबोधामलया धिया परमपूतया ।
कर्तव्यः कारणज्ञेन विचारोऽनिशमात्मनः ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
śāstrāvabodhāmalayā dhiyā paramapūtayā |
kartavyaḥ kāraṇajñena vicāro'niśamātmanaḥ || 1 ||

It must be the duty of one, whose understanding is cleared and purified by a knowledge of the Sastras, to argue incessantly with a guide knowing how to reason aright.
