This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

आशामञ्जरिताकृतिं विवलितं दुःखाहिभिर्दारुणैर्भोगैः पल्लवितं जराकुसुमितं तृष्णालताभासुरम् ।
संसारं विषवृक्षमात्मनिगडं छित्त्वा विवेकासिना मुक्तस्त्वं विहरेह वारणपतिः स्तम्भादिवोन्मोचितः ॥ ३७ ॥
