The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 2.33

नृपस्तु तस्यैव विवृद्धिहेतोस्तद्भाविनार्थेन च चोद्यमानः ।
शमे ऽभिरेमे विरराम पापाद्भेजे दमं संविबभाज साधून् ॥ ३३ ॥

nṛpastu tasyaiva vivṛddhihetostadbhāvinārthena ca codyamānaḥ |
śame 'bhireme virarāma pāpādbheje damaṃ saṃvibabhāja sādhūn || 33 ||

Meanwhile the king for the sake of ensuring his son's prosperity and stirred in heart by the destiny which had been predicted for him, delighted himself in perfect calm, ceased from all evil, practised all self-restraint, and rewarded the good.
