This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 65.85

अपरे मुखतो सर्पान् अग्निं विषं च वमन्ति + + + ।
पादेन गृह्य गजेन्द्रम् अभिद्रवन्ति पिशाचगणाः ॥ ८५ ॥

apare mukhato sarpān agniṃ viṣaṃ ca vamanti + + + |
pādena gṛhya gajendram abhidravanti piśācagaṇāḥ || 85 ||

Others breathed snakes from their mouths, others fire, and others venom. Hordes of Pishacas carrying elephants rushed on foot to the assault. (85)
