This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 17.70

क्षिप्रं छन्दक कण्ठकम् उपनीत्वा मा चिरं विलम्बाहि ।
संग्रामम् अहं दुर्जयं जयिष्ये अद्य भव वूदग्रो ॥ ७० ॥

kṣipraṃ chandaka kaṇṭhakam upanītvā mā ciraṃ vilambāhi |
saṃgrāmam ahaṃ durjayaṃ jayiṣye adya bhava vūdagro || 70 ||

“Quick, Chandaka, bring me my steed Kanthaka. Do not tarry long. To-day I am going to win a hard-fought fight. So be glad.” (70)
