The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.157.1

अथ सिन्धुर्वदिष्यति ।
आर्यानार्यवपुः कोऽहमभवं विमतिः पुरा ।
यद्वशान्मे कुसंस्कारः प्राक्तनोऽस्ति भवप्रदः ॥ १ ॥

atha sindhurvadiṣyati |
āryānāryavapuḥ ko'hamabhavaṃ vimatiḥ purā |
yadvaśānme kusaṃskāraḥ prāktano'sti bhavapradaḥ || 1 ||

Then sindhu will say said:—Tell me sir, what kind of a vile person and how ignorant I had been before whereby I still retain the evil propensities of my past life, and am doomed to be reborn in this earth.
