The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नाबुद्धिपूर्वं तत्कर्म संभवत्यङ्ग कस्यचित् ।
बुद्धिपूर्वं तु यद्व्यर्थं कुर्यादुन्मत्तको हि कः ॥ ६९ ॥

nābuddhipūrvaṃ tatkarma saṃbhavatyaṅga kasyacit |
buddhipūrvaṃ tu yadvyarthaṃ kuryādunmattako hi kaḥ || 69 ||

The creation of the world, is never the work of an unintelligent cause; nor is this frail and unreal world ever the work of an intelligent maker also; because none but a fool makes any for nothing.
