The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.98.23

देशकालवशात्पापैर्महोत्पातोऽपि दृश्यते ।
सर्वकर्माणि संत्यज्य कुर्यात्सज्जनसंगमम् ।
एतत्कर्म निराबाधं लोकद्वितयसाधनम् ॥ २३ ॥

deśakālavaśātpāpairmahotpāto'pi dṛśyate |
sarvakarmāṇi saṃtyajya kuryātsajjanasaṃgamam |
etatkarma nirābādhaṃ lokadvitayasādhanam || 23 ||

This change and falling off of good men, from their moral rectitude, have been seen in many places and at different times; wherefore it is necessary to choose the company of the good only, for one's safety in this and salvation in the next world.
