The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.36.8

वाच्यवाचकदृष्ट्यैव भेदो योऽयमिहावयोः ।
असत्या कल्पनैवैषा वीचिवीच्यम्भसोरिव ॥ ८ ॥

vācyavācakadṛṣṭyaiva bhedo yo'yamihāvayoḥ |
asatyā kalpanaivaiṣā vīcivīcyambhasoriva || 8 ||

It is a verbal usage that makes a distinction betwixt thee and ourselves (i.e. between the Divine and animal souls); but this is a false impression as that of the difference between waves and their elemental water.
