The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.31.15

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
यथा दामादयो राम स्थिता मायामया इति ।
असत्या एव सत्याभा मृगतृष्णाम्बुपूरवत् ॥ १५ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
yathā dāmādayo rāma sthitā māyāmayā iti |
asatyā eva satyābhā mṛgatṛṣṇāmbupūravat || 15 ||

Yes Rama, it was in the same way, that the non-existent and unreal Dama and others seemed to be in existence by mere illusion, as the mirage appears to us to be full of water by our optical delusion.
