The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आशा प्रसारिता दूरं प्रावृषीव तरङ्गिणी ।
करभ्या इव सर्पेण विद्रुतं दूरतो धिया ॥ ३७ ॥

āśā prasāritā dūraṃ prāvṛṣīva taraṅgiṇī |
karabhyā iva sarpeṇa vidrutaṃ dūrato dhiyā || 37 ||

Our wishes are stretched as far and wide, as a running river overflows its banks in the rainy season; but the objects of our desires fly afar from us, as snakes hide themselves from the snake eating Karabhas by their own sagacity.
