The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
तस्मिंस्तदा वर्तमाने घोरे समरविभ्रमे ।
सर्वारिसैन्यनाशार्थमेकं स्वबलशान्तये ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
tasmiṃstadā vartamāne ghore samaravibhrame |
sarvārisainyanāśārthamekaṃ svabalaśāntaye || 1 ||

Vasishtha said:—As the tide of war was rolling violently with a general massacre on both sides, the belligerent monarchs thought on the means of saving their own forces from the impending ruin.
