The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.49.15

ऊर्ध्वकेशाः कृशाङ्गाश्च केचिच्च श्मश्रुला अपि ।
कृष्णाङ्गा मलिनाङ्गाश्च ग्राम्या इव नभश्चराः ॥ १५ ॥

ūrdhvakeśāḥ kṛśāṅgāśca kecicca śmaśrulā api |
kṛṣṇāṅgā malināṅgāśca grāmyā iva nabhaścarāḥ || 15 ||

They were as lean skeletons with erect hairs on their heads and bearded faces, with looks as pale as those of beggars, and bodies as black as those of the aerial and nocturnal fiends.
