The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 2.18.65

अर्थावलोकने दीपादाभामात्रादृते किल ।
न स्थानतैलवर्त्यादि किंचिदव्युपयुज्यते ॥ ६५ ॥

arthāvalokane dīpādābhāmātrādṛte kila |
na sthānatailavartyādi kiṃcidavyupayujyate || 65 ||

The light of the sense (of some thing) is compared with a lamp in its brightness only, in disregard of its stand or stick, the oil or the wick.
