This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

शान्ताशेषविशेषणो विगतभीः सन्त्यक्तसर्वैषणो गत्वा नूनमकिञ्चनत्वमरिषु त्यक्त्वा समग्रां श्रियम् ।
शान्ताहङ्कृतिरस्तदेहकलनस्तेष्वेव भिक्षामटन्मामप्युज्झितवानलं यदि भवस्युच्चैस्तदुच्चैरसि ॥ ३६ ॥

śāntāśeṣaviśeṣaṇo vigatabhīḥ santyaktasarvaiṣaṇo gatvā nūnamakiñcanatvamariṣu tyaktvā samagrāṃ śriyam |
