Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ममानपत्यः पृथिवीपतिः पिता भवेत्पितुः पुत्रशतं ममौरसम् ।
कुलस्य संतानकरं च यद्भवेत्तृतीयमेतं वरयामि ते वरम् ॥ ३७ ॥
