This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 17.47

अथ विविधरतननिचया नगरनगरा अनेकसहस्राणि ।
प्रज्वलि प्रभा च विमला प्रादुर्भूते नरवरेन्द्रे ति ॥ ४७ ॥

atha vividharatananicayā nagaranagarā anekasahasrāṇi |
prajvali prabhā ca vimalā prādurbhūte naravarendre ti || 47 ||

Then at the birth of the Lord of men, cities and towns, several thousands of them, gleamed bright and clear like heaps of divers precious stones. (47)
