The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.188.2

एवंविधं तत्कलनमात्मनोऽङ्गमकृत्रिमम् ।
चेत्योन्मुखचिदाभासं जीवशब्देन कथ्यते ॥ २ ॥

evaṃvidhaṃ tatkalanamātmano'ṅgamakṛtrimam |
cetyonmukhacidābhāsaṃ jīvaśabdena kathyate || 2 ||

In this manner the fiction (of the living soul) means that, this being a part of the supreme soul is verily the same with it. (As the air in the pot or cot, is the same as universal air or vacuum). It is when the subjective soul is employed with the thoughts of the objective, that it is termed the living God or spirit.
