The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वात्यावर्तवदाभातमिदं प्रथममाततम् ।
असदेव यथा भातं तथैवाद्यापि संस्थितम् ॥ ४१ ॥

vātyāvartavadābhātamidaṃ prathamamātatam |
asadeva yathā bhātaṃ tathaivādyāpi saṃsthitam || 41 ||

Like vibration in air, the world existed as first in the ideal of the Divine Mind; and as it was an unsubstantiality before, so it continues ever still.
