The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.2.7

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
पृच्छामि यदहं तत्त्वं कथयाशु ममानघ ।
यदि जानासि तत्त्वेन कर्म तावत्किमुच्यते ॥ ७ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
pṛcchāmi yadahaṃ tattvaṃ kathayāśu mamānagha |
yadi jānāsi tattvena karma tāvatkimucyate || 7 ||

Vasishtha replied:—I will ask you also one question, O sinless Rama! and you should answer it soon, if you understand well what is rightly meant by the term duty and that of activity.
