The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भूतानि द्विविधान्येव प्रतिसर्गे स्फुरन्ति वै ।
आद्यविस्पन्दजातानि तानि निष्कारणानि वै ॥ २ ॥

bhūtāni dvividhānyeva pratisarge sphuranti vai |
ādyavispandajātāni tāni niṣkāraṇāni vai || 2 ||

There are two kinds of living beings, that come into existence in the beginning of the repeated creations; the one coming into existence without any causality, and are thence called to be causeless or uncaused (such as that is they are not made like pots and the like (ghatadi), by means of the instrumental causality of the potters wheel, stick &c.
