Verse 6.101.41

तत्किमर्थमनर्थेऽस्मिन्निमग्नस्त्वं तपोमये ।
आश्रमादिविकल्पांशसाध्यस्याद्य कुकर्मणः ॥ ४१ ॥

tatkimarthamanarthe'sminnimagnastvaṃ tapomaye |
āśramādivikalpāṃśasādhyasyādya kukarmaṇaḥ || 41 ||

Why therefore are you devoted in vain, to the observance of your austerities; because the mortifications and penance of asceticism, are prescribed for the expiation of the prior misdeeds of men.
