The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अनिङ्गितमनाभासमप्रतर्क्यं कथं भवेत् ।
अतो न कारणं नैव बीजं ब्रह्म कदाचन ॥ ९ ॥

aniṅgitamanābhāsamapratarkyaṃ kathaṃ bhavet |
ato na kāraṇaṃ naiva bījaṃ brahma kadācana || 9 ||

The Lord can never be supposed as the seed or cause of the universe, since his nature is inscrutable and beyond our conception, and cannot be thought of as the root of anything whatever.
