The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.102.22

बदरं हस्तमायाति यथा स्फुटति कुण्डके ।
आत्मा गगनमायाति तथा चलति देहके ॥ २२ ॥

badaraṃ hastamāyāti yathā sphuṭati kuṇḍake |
ātmā gaganamāyāti tathā calati dehake || 22 ||

As a plum is held in the hand or it falls into a pit, so the vacuous soul is reposed in or deposed from the body.
