This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

Verse 4.21.3

यथा जलराशौ जलराशय उल्लासप्रत्युल्लासैर्नानाकारतां दर्शयन्तः प्रकटतां गच्छन्ति । तथा चिद्घन एव चिद्घनश्चितं चिन्वानः सर्वाश्शक्तीः कर्ममयीर्वाङ्मयीर्मनोमयीश्चिनोति बिभर्ति जनयति क्षपयति चेति ॥ ३ ॥

yathā jalarāśau jalarāśaya ullāsapratyullāsairnānākāratāṃ darśayantaḥ prakaṭatāṃ gacchanti | tathā cidghana eva cidghanaścitaṃ cinvānaḥ sarvāśśaktīḥ karmamayīrvāṅmayīrmanomayīścinoti bibharti janayati kṣapayati ceti || 3 ||
