Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वयं पुनः सप्तदशेषु कृष्णे कुलेषु सर्वेऽनवमेषु जाताः ।
षड्भ्यो गुणेभ्योऽभ्यधिका विहीनान्मन्यामहे द्रौपदि पाण्डुपुत्रान् ॥ ११ ॥
