Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. This portion also contains the Bhagavad-Gita. Alternative titles: Mahābhārata (महाभारत).

Verse 12.30.36

त्वयाहं प्रथमं शप्तो वानरस्त्वं भविष्यसि ।
इत्युक्तेन मया पश्चाच्छप्तस्त्वमपि मत्सरात् ।
अद्यप्रभृति वै वासं स्वर्गे नावाप्स्यसीति ह ॥ ३६ ॥

tvayāhaṃ prathamaṃ śapto vānarastvaṃ bhaviṣyasi |
ityuktena mayā paścācchaptastvamapi matsarāt |
adyaprabhṛti vai vāsaṃ svarge nāvāpsyasīti ha || 36 ||
