Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. रथाश्वमातङ्गपदातिसंघा बाणस्वनैर्नेमिखुरस्वनैश्च ।
संनादयन्तो वसुधां दिशश्च क्रुद्धा नृसिंहा जयमभ्युदीयुः ॥ ४ ॥
