The Garga-samhita Verse 4.13.2, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 13 (The Story of the Demigoddesses) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

बभूव मालवे देशे
गोपो नन्दो दिवस्-पतिः
भार्या-सहस्र-सम्युक्तो
धनवान् नीतिमान् परः

babhūva mālave deśe
gopo nando divas-patiḥ
bhāryā-sahasra-samyukto
dhanavān nītimān paraḥ

babhūva—was; mālave deśe—in Malava-desa; gopaḥa gopa; nandaḥNanda; divas-patiḥ—king; bhāryāof wives; sahasraa thousand; samyuktaḥ—with; dhanavān—wealthy; nītimān—moral; paraḥ—great.

English translation of verse 4.13.2:

In Mālava-deśa there was a great gopa-king named Nanda-divaspati. He was righteous and wealthy, and he had a thousand wives.
