Ashtavakra Gita [sanskrit]

Ashtavakra Gita is a Sanskrit text belonging to the Advaita Vedanta school of orthodox Indian philosophy, instructing the reader in some of the core concepts. Traditionally believed to be authored by sage Ashtavakra, it is presented in the form of a dialogue between him and Janaka, king of Mithila. Alternative titles: अष्टावक्रगीता, Aṣṭāvakragītā, Astavakragita, अष्टावक्र-गीता, Aṣṭāvakra-gītā.

Verse 1.2

अष्टावक्र उवाच ।
मुक्तिमिच्छसि चेत्तात विषयान्विषवत्त्यज ।
क्षमार्जवदयातोषसत्यं पीयूषवद्भज ॥ २ ॥

aṣṭāvakra uvāca |
muktimicchasi cettāta viṣayānviṣavattyaja |
kṣamārjavadayātoṣasatyaṃ pīyūṣavadbhaja || 2 ||

Ashtavakra: If you are seeking liberation, my son, shun the objects of the senses like poison. Practise tolerance, sincerity, compassion, contentment and truthfulness like nectar.
