The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 1.38

महोरगा धर्मविशेषतर्षाद्बुद्धेष्वतीतेषु कृताधिकाराः ।
यमव्यजन् भक्तिविशिष्टनेत्रा मन्दारपुष्पैः समवाकिरंश्च ॥ ३८ ॥

mahoragā dharmaviśeṣatarṣādbuddheṣvatīteṣu kṛtādhikārāḥ |
yamavyajan bhaktiviśiṣṭanetrā mandārapuṣpaiḥ samavākiraṃśca || 38 ||

The great dragons in their great thirst for the Law,—they who had had the privilege of waiting on the past Buddhas,—gazing with eyes of intent devotion, fanned him and strewed Mandara flowers over him.
