This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.
Verse 85.31
सांदृष्टिकं पश्यथ यावद् एवं क्षान्तिसौरभ्यस्यिदं विपाकं ।
लोकस्य सदेवकस्य प्रव्रज्यं देवान मनुजान वन्दनीयं ॥ ३१ ॥
sāṃdṛṣṭikaṃ paśyatha yāvad evaṃ kṣāntisaurabhyasyidaṃ vipākaṃ |
lokasya sadevakasya pravrajyaṃ devāna manujāna vandanīyaṃ || 31 ||
Behold what the fruit of forbearance and gentleness even in this present life is. On earth and in heaven the religious life is worthy of the praise of devas and men. (31)
