This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 78.22

संप्रति वने अनयना परिभ्रमति रेणुगुण्ठितशरीरा ।
हा पुत्रेति च वदति तद् अद्य दुःखतरम् आसाद्य ॥ २२ ॥

saṃprati vane anayanā paribhramati reṇuguṇṭhitaśarīrā |
hā putreti ca vadati tad adya duḥkhataram āsādya || 22 ||

“Sightless she now roams the wood, her body covered with dust, crying, ‘Where is my son?’ This is the greater sorrow I am this day afflicted with.” (22)
