by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.99

तं अवच सत्यवर्धनो पुत्र भुंजाहि प्रणीतकामगुणं ।
वैश्रवणभवनसदृशे अमरभवनसन्निभे वेश्मे ॥ ९९ ॥

taṃ avaca satyavardhano putra bhuṃjāhi praṇītakāmaguṇaṃ |
vaiśravaṇabhavanasadṛśe amarabhavanasannibhe veśme || 99 ||

To him Satyavardhana said, “My son, enjoy the exquisite quality of sensual pleasures here in your home that is like the abode of Vaishravana, like the abode of the immortals.” (99)
