This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.69

अकृत्यं परिवर्जेति कृत्यं च अनुतिष्ठति ।
आत्मनो ज्ञातिमित्राणां राष्ट्रस्य च सुखावहं ॥ ६९ ॥

akṛtyaṃ parivarjeti kṛtyaṃ ca anutiṣṭhati |
ātmano jñātimitrāṇāṃ rāṣṭrasya ca sukhāvahaṃ || 69 ||

“By it he shuns what is not to be done, and accomplishes what is to be done. It brings blessings to himself, to his relations and friends, and to the whole kingdom. (69)
